Good Diabetic Snacks for Children

One of our members inquired about diabetic friendly snacks for her 2 year old.  I did some research as I am not super familiar on the subject.  Her is what I found……

Some snacks that should be ok for a 2-3 year old are:

  • Cheese
  • Animal Crackers made with apple juice and no added sugar in limited quantities
  • Pieces of raw apple or carrots
  • Yogurt
  • Sugar Free Ice Pops
  • “Natural” Peanut Butter
  • Sugar Free Jello
  • Sugar Free Chocolate Pudding
  • Whole grain crackers
  • Whole Grain Oatmeal
  • Whole Grain Cheerios
  • Chocolate Milk made with skim milk and sugar free syrup
  • Frozen banana pops – slide a banana on a stick, rill in granola, nuts, or oats, place on wax paper and freeze


I also came across a company that I am not familiar with but am intrigued to learn more about.  It is called Kays Diabetic Foods.  (
